- The Art of Disagreeing: How to Keep Calm and Stay Friends in Hard Conversations by Gavin Ortlund – Disagreement is a fact of life. But how can you disagree in a Christ-like manner? Ortlund gives great counsel on what often seems like a lost skill.
- Mere Christianity by C. S. Lewis – Lewis is such an excellent writer and a master of illustration. This is a great work to read with someone who is curious about Christianity, or to go back and find new ways to think about the Christian life.

- 27 Servants of Sovereign Joy by John Piper – Piper does a wonderful job distilling people's lives to a chapter length encouragement exposing us to some of the "great cloud of witnesses." If you prefer audio versions, you can listen to many of them at Desiring God here.

- New Morning Mercies by Paul Tripp – These daily meditations based on short passages of Scripture are wonderful, gospel saturated, and offer passages for further reflection.
